The 264 ^ Naval Command School Session, the fourth and last year of the 2013-2014 academic year, has ended.

The four sessions of the intense program of studies have seen as a whole 47 official of vessel achieve the suitability to the command, an indispensable condition to aspire to the assignment that more than any other will mark the professional life of an officer: the commander of a ship.

The Naval Command School is one of the oldest realities of the Navy, born in the 1926 it has changed little over the years and continues to represent a fundamental stage in the preparation for the command for generations of living vessel officers, in the setting of the Augusta base, a fundamental formative moment.

Each Command School session is developed over six weeks, during which the users, around 12 per session, engage in every type of maneuver, in port waters as in the open sea, follow theoretical lessons and manage other typical activities for a commander, such as operational planning, image and promotion and protocol commitments. Everything takes place under the watchful eye of the assessor officers who have the task of training the visitors and, at the same time, assessing their aptitude for naval command.

Some numbers: almost 2600 the maneuvers carried out, including moorings, loads, trailers, anchorages, buoy points and tactical maneuvers in day and night conditions. More than 800 hours of navigation in port waters and open seas. All this by docking in 7 different seaside towns that have welcomed our ships, with thousands of visitors.

A special note deserves the crews of the participating ships, around 350 sailors per session, embarked on board the corvettes and auxiliary units that have supported the Command School without pause.
