From today, the sailing training ship Amerigo Vespucci of the Navy, engaged in the 2020 education campaign in favor of the first class officer students of the Naval Academy, will be present in the Gulf of Naples and for about two days the Campania population will be able to admire it from the coast.

A very important appointment for the city of Castellammare di Stabia which on 22 February 1931 gave birth to what will become and which is still considered the ambassador of the Made in Italy and the values of the Navy.

Until tomorrow evening 10 August, the ship will remain at anchor in front of the city where it was built.

The training campaign for young officer cadets at the end of a demanding first year of study at the Naval Academy continues with an intense training program that saw the Vespucci, departed from Livorno on 29 June, sailing between the islands of the La Maddalena Park and, subsequently, in the Strait of Messina and also being present at the inauguration of the new Ponte San Giorgio in Genoa.

The 2020 education campaign takes place in an unusual way, in order to comply with the necessary requirements for the safety of on-board personnel in relation to the COVID 19 problem; therefore, the usual openings to the public of the ship during stops in ports are not foreseen.

This year's training activity is dedicated to all Italians who have experienced this moment of particular difficulty and, therefore, every possible opportunity of close passage will be seized to greet the communities along the coasts lapped by the vessel.

Ship Vespucci, having greeted the Neapolitan Gulf, the training activity of future officers of the Navy will continue towards the south of the Peninsula.
