On 23 September 2019 at the "Teseo Tesei" Underwater and Incursors Group, in the presence of the Chief of Staff of the Navy, team admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, the alternation ceremony in command of the Comsubin took place between the division admiral Paolo Pezzutti (transferor) and Rear Admiral Massimiliano Rossi (accepting).
The square of the historic Varignano base was the frame of the handover occurred in front of all the military and civil personnel of the Regrouping, and to the religious, civil and military authorities of La Spezia.
Admiral Pezzutti, in his farewell speech, recalled the humility and motivation with which he approached the position of commander of Varignano, putting himself at the service of Comsubin's men to offer them their organizational skills, and put them in a position to continue improving this extraordinary reality, heritage of the Navy.
With the traditional recognition formula of the new commander, pronounced by Admiral Pezzutti in favor of Admiral Rossi, a new course began for the two operative souls of the Underwater and Incursor Command.
Admiral Rossi, in his speech, underlined his commitment to continue the activity of improving the capabilities of the Operational Groups placed under him, on the path traced by Admiral Pezzutti, so that they can take advantage of the best technologies and more performing operational structures, without forgetting the men who have always been the cornerstone, the foundation, on which Comsubin's skills are based.
The chief of staff of the Navy, former commander of the Underwater and Incursors Group from 2008 to 2011, after dwelling on his experience at Varignano recalling the sensations and feelings he had experienced, thanked Admiral Pezzutti for the work done, and wished the 'Admiral Rossi, a man and sailor who grew up within the Incursori Operational Group, the auspices for a period of satisfaction.
Admiral Pezzutti, leaves the command at the end of an intense period that lasted almost 4 years, and will cover the prestigious position of commander of the Second Naval Division based in Taranto.
