During the stop, our sailors, together with those of the Italian base in Djibouti, visited the "Notre-Dame de Boulaos" kindergarten, a reference center for the local community run by the Missionaries of Charity, where hundreds of children study. The crew brought groceries, basic necessities and a donation for the institute. This type of visits are part of the activities of Civil Military Cooperation (CIMIC) which serve to help the reconstruction and improvement of the socio-economic fabric of the country.
Before resuming the sea, the ship carried out a series of bilateral exercises together with the Coast Guard of Djibouti, framed in the Local Maritime Capacity Building, the development of regional naval skills, to increase maritime safety in the area.
The operators of the GOS (Underwater Operating Group), carried out an IED exercise (Improvised Explosive Device, improvised explosive devices), with 6 bomb squads from the Gibutinian Coast Guard. The exercise serves to train the military in the search, classification and disposal of explosive devices.
