Kosovo, Self Defense course for women completed

At Youth Center of Peć/Pejё the course of Self Defense in favor of young Kosovar women, organized by Italian soldiers belonging to the Liaison Monitoring Team (LMT) of Regional Command West (RC-W) of KFOR.

The project was organized in cooperation with the Women Wellness Centre, NGO that deals with the prevention of violence against women.

The course was designed as a tool to increase personal awareness, improve self-confidence and learn effective self-defense techniques. Through practical and theoretical lessons it was taught how to recognize dangerous situations, react effectively and defend oneself in the event of an attack, skills required in situations of danger and vulnerability.

Civil and military authorities were present at the certificate delivery ceremony, including the commander of the Regional Command West of KFOR, Colonel Francesco Ferrara, the deputy mayor of Peć/Pejё, mr. Fatmir Asllani and the Councilor for Culture, Sports and Youth, Mrs. Xhenet Syka, from the municipality of Peć/Pejё.

The Italian contingent of the Kosovo Force (KFOR), in line with United Nations Security Council resolution 1244 of 1999, contributes to maintaining a safe and secure environment, as well as freedom of movement for all communities living in Kosovo, at the same time promoting beneficial activities under the direction of the Joint Forces top operational command.
