Libya: no Italian military involved in the attack on the Misurata airport

With regard to the attack that took place during the night against the Misurata airport, it is confirmed that no Italian military was involved and the infrastructures in use by the Italian military contingent were not damaged.

The Italian contingent in Libya operates in the bilateral Mission of assistance and support (MIASIT) to the North African country in harmony with the lines of intervention defined by the United Nations.

The contingent includes personnel with the task of providing health assistance and support, training, training, consulting and mentoring.

In Tripoli there is also a Navy ship with logistical technical support tasks for the Libyan maritime forces as part of the national "Safe Sea" operation.
