General Scardino welcomes the cate of the Resolute Support mission

27/01/15

General John Campbell, commander of the Resolute Support (RSM) mission in Afghanistan, visited Herat's Train Advise Assist Command West (TAAC-W).

The commander of RSM (mission that replaced ISAF since January 1) accompanied by Ambassador Ismail Aramaz, senior civilian representative of Afghanistan in Afghanistan, was welcomed by Brigadier General Maurizio Angelo Scardino, commander of TAAC W, the multinational command and interforce on the "Garibaldi" bersaglieri brigade base. The US senior official was updated on the operations carried out by the TAAC-W: activities based exclusively on training, consultancy and assistance in favor of Afghan security forces and aimed at making the latter completely self-sustainable. In this regard, General Campbell, accompanied by General Scardino, visited the 207 Army Corps of the Afghan National Army (ANA), led by General Taj Mohammad Jahed, noting the level of training and operations achieved. General Campbell then visited the new Forensic Lab in Herat, a structure dedicated to the training of forensic science personnel and the development of forensic investigations, and which, thanks to the contribution of the TAAC W advisors, constitutes a fundamental tool in the structured fight against terrorism. Before leaving Herat for Kabul, the commander of RS expressed great satisfaction with the excellent work carried out by the TAAC-W.
