The Italian contingent builds roads in southern Lebanon

The Italian contingent of UNIFIL, based on the “Friuli” aircraft Brigade, has completed and inaugurated an important project of Civil and Military Cooperation consisting in the construction of a road in the village of Hannawiyah, in southern Lebanon.

The Italian blue helmets have completed the project for the asphalting of several hundred meters of road, allowing to improve the circulation and ensuring greater safety conditions for the villagers. The works were directed and coordinated by the civilian military cooperation (CIMIC) cell of Sector West of UNIFIL with Italian command, which has also developed and is carrying out two other road construction projects in the nearby village of Ayta Ech Chaab, one of which through the use of its Genio component of the 3 ° distrust regiment of Udine.

At the cutting of the ribbon were present the commander, General Salvatore Cuoci, Imam Schawki Katum and the mayor of the village Hassan Tajeddine, who thanked on behalf of all the inhabitants for the work that is carried out daily for the local population by the Italian contingent .

General Cuoci has expressed great satisfaction for the finalization of one of the countless projects that the Italian contingent has carried out and continues to develop through its CIMIC cell, in full implementation of the tasks assigned by the 1701 Resolution of the Council 2006 United Nations Security.
