Last navigation of Mistral ship: goodbye 'Serenissima', en route to Ancona

(To Marina Militare)
09/11/15

Today the Maestrale ship stop in Venice ends which, since 5 November, has seen the Italian frigate greet the Serenissima, on the occasion of its last naval campaign. The program of events took place in an atmosphere of interest on the part of the Venetians.

On the occasion of the press conference on 6 November, the Navy frigate hosted Raffaella Masciardi and Giorgia Sottana, Italian basketball champions of the Famila Schio, and Marco Steiner who presented his new novel "Oltremare", dedicated to the adventures of Corto Maltese, imagined in a period prior to the stories of its creator, cartoonist Hugo Pratt.

This too was a stop in the name of solidarity, thanks to the partnership between Marina and Telethon, with the organization of a charity evening for fundraising and for the promotion of the sale of Chocolate Hearts. With the WWF, an awareness raising exhibition of the Turtles Project was set up on the flight deck.

Visits on board were organized throughout the days for local school groups, photographic exhibitions on the history of the Navy, conferences on the Great War and moments dedicated to professional guidance in our Armed Forces for young people.

In addition to the moments dedicated to schools even the smallest, accompanied by parents, have shown curiosity and interest in the frigate. Many were the Venetians and tourists who wanted to take this opportunity to visit and greet the Italian frigate.

The Mistral today will sail towards Ancona, the next port of the Naval Campaign, where the ship will stop until November 12.
