The competition for the Livorno Naval Academy will be published in a few days. 108 cadet officers of the Normal Roles will be recruited, of which 65 from the General Staff. Being a naval diver officer means undertaking a training course of excellence (find out more about the divers). The course Ordinary diver it is very selective, in fact, it lasts about a year and is divided into four phases during which the student is progressively trained in the use of the various self-contained breathing systems and the execution of underwater works both day and night, even with the use of explosives.
At the end of the course the diver is able to carry out a wide range of tasks: underwater interventions, even in deep waters; rescue to submarine crews in distress using sophisticated underwater equipment; underwater reclamation of ordnance.
