Italian officer boarded on American ship

USS missile launcher James E. Williams, class Arleigh Burke, one of the most modern units of the US Navy, counts among the members of his crew an Italian officer, the second lieutenant of vessel Andrea Teja, who has been serving for almost a year Assistant Navigator as part of the Personal Exchange Program (PEP), a project that includes the temporary exchange of officers, non-commissioned officers or graduates between the two Marines.

The PEP allows the appointed officer full integration into the professional reality on board the US Navy, as the position of Assistant Navigator is in effect an organic position on the major units of the US Navy.

The Naval Attaché in Washington, Captain Valter Zappellini, who recently visited the unit at the Norfolk base, shared with the ship's commander the strong ties of esteem, collaboration and trust that unite the two Military Marines. Precisely this consolidated partnership is the basis for sharing the excellence of the respective Marinas, both in the technical field and in that of human resources.

After intense training in recent months, USS James E. Williams has received the "Navigation Mobility Certification" and will soon participate in complex exercises with the Strike Group Two (STG 2) and, later, with other European Marine.
