Last Tuesday 21 February, aboard ship Bergamini moored in the port of La Goulette in Tunis, the commander-in-chief of the naval team, Admiral Donato Marzano, met the Chief of Staff of the Tunisian Navy, Rear Admiral Abderraouf Atallah, accompanied by the leaders of the armed force.
On the following day, Admiral Marzano visited the operations center of the Tunisian Navy. Two days of talks held in a climate of friendship and pragmatism to deepen and increase cooperation in the fields of maritime surveillance and training, optimizing synergies for greater interoperability and sharing of information in the complex scenario of the central Mediterranean.
The maritime defense of the national territory and the protection of naval traffic lines, vital for the production system of the Mediterranean countries, strongly depend on the effectiveness of the fight against illegal activities and the defense of free trade on the sea and can only be achieved through a close collaboration between all the countries of the Mediterranean area.
The ship stop Bergamini in the port of La Goulette from the 21 to the last 24, engaged in the operation Safe Sea, is part of the cooperation activities between our Marina and the Tunisian.
During the stop, the ship also received a visit from the Italian ambassador, Dr. Raimondo De Cardona, from military attaches accredited to Tunisia, from Tunisian Navy personnel and officers, and from a school of Italian boys residing in Tunis.
