Naval School "F. Morosini: the 'Typhoeus' course swears loyalty to the Republic and its institutions

On Friday 23 December, in the Aula Magna of the "Francesco Morosini" Military Naval School, 66 students, including 28 girls, swore allegiance to the Italian Republic and its institutions.

With the oath the students of the course typhoeus they are solemnly bound to live under the aegis of the values ​​of military institutions, consecrating their future on the altar of honor and absolute loyalty to the Nation, without saving physical, moral and intellectual energies.

The solemn oath ceremony, in the presence of the Chief of Staff of the Navy, team admiral Valter Girardelli, the commander of the Navy Schools, team admiral Salvatore Ruzittu and numerous military and civil authorities, represents an indelible moment in life of each student and the liberating "Lo Giuro" shouted at the end of the formula pronounced by the commander of the School, ship captain Massimo Fabbri, validates the first goal of the individual commitment, but, even more, declares the iron will of the course - which for the first time it boasts the chosen name - to take over the task of continuing to write memorable pages in the history of "Morosini".

The commander of the School, during his address, focused on the value covered by a formal act that takes place just after 110 days from the incorporation, but which seals the entry into the new status. In a particular historical moment marked by disengagement and the general rejection of responsibility, the Students make a choice in counter-trend, taking on a heavy task: to live up to the noble values ​​handed down within the Naval School.

In his speech, the Chief of Staff of the Navy, on his second visit to the Institute, did not fail to encourage the young students to persevere in the path undertaken in the name of commitment, temperance and fortitude. For these young people who will find themselves protagonists of what is called the blue century due to the strategic importance of the seas, the imprinting of the Morosini Naval School constitutes a sort of viaticum to face every path of life and pursue the most ambitious goals, perhaps in the riverbed of the sea that means so much in the economic, political and social balance of the country.

It was the turn of the course godfather, Rear Admiral Massimo Vianello, former student of the Hydra Course, to deliver the banner to the course typhoeus, inspired and manifest name of the ideals of the course itself. The blue flag has the image of the giant in its center typhoeus that makes its way with wings through a storm, a metaphor for the difficulties that students will encounter in their path of growth and maturation. In the background there are three typhoons representing the three sections of the course and the Etna, still extinguished because it is not animated by the giant, symbolizing also eternity.

The motto of the course typhoeus, reported in the lower part of the banner, is "In Adversis Intrepidi" - or "Intrepid in adversity" - chosen to declare the stubborn will to find the strength and courage to overcome every adversity of life in the feeling of communion and brotherhood between companions course.
