Naval Command School: 273 ^ session in progress

It has recently started at the Command of Patrol Forces for Coast Guard and Defense of Augusta, the 273rd session of Naval Command School which, for six intense weeks, will see 9 young naval officers engaged.

The professional background of the visitors is different: fusiliers of the San Marco marine brigade, pilots, specialists in telecommunications, in the direction of shooting and in the anti-submarine fight, which are also joined by two foreign officers: a Lebanese captain and a Maltese lieutenant.

Initially established in Taranto in order to train the lieutenants of the general staff in the use of torpedo boats and to assess their aptitude for command, for over 90 years the Naval Command School continues to carry out a high-value training activity, allowing visitors to arrive ready to take on the first naval command, a crucial and significant moment in the career of vessel officers.

Under the careful supervision of highly experienced evaluating officers, during this intense period the patrons refine various techniques of conducting naval units with the execution of mooring and unmooring maneuvers, buoy taking and anchoring in the Augusta bay. In a second phase which will take place offshore on board a naval group consisting of corvettes Sphinx,  ChimeraDriade, the training will intensify with cinematic maneuvers, lateral side-by-side, trailers and close and precise navigation.

La Naval Command School it has the task of transmitting to the visitors not only traditions, skills and practical abilities in the execution of the various maneuvers, but also to evaluate and increase their professional, moral and character qualities, such as temperament, decision-making, determination and leadership attitude.
