Reflecting on the tradition of pre-Union Marine and perpetuated until the second post-war period, the Armed Forces has appointed the new "Painters of Marina", artists who, besides being deeply and emotionally linked to the Navy, have distinguished themselves in the production of images ships, naval and sea scenes.

From 1998, with the establishment ofMarine Painters Association, the Armed Forces periodically acknowledges the status of "Painter of Marina" to artists who with their art have distinguished themselves in promoting the sea and the Navy.

This year the valuable title was conferred on the masters Alessandro Feruglio, Giuseppe Frascaroli, Mario Magnatti, Gianfranco Munerotto and Gianni Testa, all present at the event which was held on January 20, in the Central Library of Palazzo Marina in Rome.

Another master of the title, Davide Orler, great interpreter of Italian painting of the twentieth century, who disappeared in 2010. The "Marina di Pittore" diploma, tangible and duly recognized to an artist who, in addition to having been volunteer in Marina, has always distinguished himself in dealing with the theme of sea and sea, has been retired by his sons Stefano and Gabriele .

La ceremony was presided over by the Head of the Image and Promotion Office, captain of vessel Luca Conti, who highlighted how the Navy has always recognized art and culture as an important role in spreading the values ​​and traditions of the Armed Forces.

The event ended with the presentation of the book 'The history of the Navy through paintings', published with the collaboration between the Historical Office of the Navy and Rodorigo Editore.

Admiral Raffaele Caruso intervened, who brought greetings from the Navy Chief of Staff, the author of the book Admiral Paolo Bembo, the head of the Navy Historical Office and president of theMarina Painters Association, vessel captain Giosuè Allegrini and Dr. Enrico Cernuschi, naval historian and collaborator of the Historical Office.
