A non-commissioner of the Marine Corps and Incursory Operations Incorporating Operations Group (GOI) ranked first in the ICASD (International Concentration for Advanced Sniping) competition held in the city of Artà (Djibouti) last October.

The activity, organized by the COFS (Special Forces Operation Command), in conjunction with the French Armed Forces in Djibouti, was born as an exercise designed to test the sniper skills of the various special forces invited (Commando Hubert, Commando Mont Fort, CPA 10, 1 ° RPIMA, GIGN, Navy Seals, GOI and 9 ^ Rgt. Col Moschin), but given the international context in which it develops, it is transformed from the very first moment into a top-level competition a real final ranking.

In the desert and rocky scenery of the city of Artà, the 26 sniper operators, divided into 13 couples, had the opportunity to compete for 15 days, with very tight rhythms (from dawn to late at night), in multiple activities: interdiction, long-range suppression shots, helicopter shots, assault course, unknown distance game, long-range angled shot with all supplied calibers (5,56; 308; 338; 50BMG; 9mm) .

All this exactly reflects the operational situations in which snipers are called to intervene, without counting the Spartan conditions in which they operated and the scorching heat that contributed to raising the level of stress.

At the end of the competition two classifications were drawn up, one for a team (or a pair) and one for individual. In the team ranking for the Italians the best result was obtained by the Operational Group Incursori with the 7 ° place, while in the individual standings the highest step of the podium was scored by a non-commissioned GOI officer in front of the Navy Seals (2 ° place ) and to the GIGN (3 ° place).

This result, the result of the very high level of training that the Comsubin Incursori Arditi undergoes, unleashes the Navy and brings Italian excellence internationally also in this field.
