Yesterday 23 February, in the locality of Mattarello, in the province of Trento, the divers of the Navy, underwater bomb squads seconded to the SDAI nucleus of Ancona (Defending Defense Insidious Catches), they removed some war remnants from the Adige river bed and handed them over to the bomb squads of the Army of the 2nd Engineers Regiment.

The immediate coordination between the prefecture of Trento, the Comsubin divers, the sappers of the alpine brigade Julia and the command force for northern operations, a military body responsible for planning and managing assets in the area, allowed the operation to be carried out in full safety.

After a brief underwater reconnaissance, SDAI operators found and brought to the surface a 210 mm projectile dating back to the Great War, a coal-type hand grenade and an artillery grenade booster, which were subsequently delivered to the Army bomb squad who proceeded to make the area safe and definitively cleared.

This intervention thus enabled the reactivation of the cycle and pedestrian path which had been forbidden at the weekend due to the discovery of the ordnance.
