Yesterday in the historical library of Palazzo Marina, in Rome, the Maritime Magazine celebrated the 150th anniversary of its foundation. The Maritime Magazine since 1868 is the monthly of the Navy and is a national reference point for maritime and naval thought. Its pages have always had names and prestigious personalities from the naval history of the country and our maritime tradition.

A task that has been renewed over time, shared and participated outside the Armed Forces, including prestigious signatures and collaborations with the diplomatic, academic, scientific and institutional world.

The event saw the participation of the Chief of Staff of the Navy, team admiral Valter Girardelli, together with numerous civil and military authorities, collaborators and deans of the Maritime Magazine.

And it is precisely the contribution of the best maritime and naval thinking in the country, expressed through countless experts and loyal collaborators inside and outside the Navy, to constitute the added value and the precious ingredient of an editorial product that is among the most prestigious naval and maritime magazines in the world.

A tradition of history and thought that sees in the sea and in maritime important factors of prosperity and growth for the country.

Italy, a country with a maritime vocation, which in its millenary history has seen prosperity around the sea: city, trade, culture, art and civilization continues to prosper thanks to the freedom of trade on the seas, the safety of its routes, the correct exploitation of its resources considering it a primary asset to be safeguarded and protected for all mankind.

Precisely to underline these vital aspects that bind the country to the blue world, a conference was held for the anniversary, moderated by Dr. Domitilla Savignoni, entitled "Geopolitics of the sea" in honor of the book born from the collaboration between the Maritime Magazine and the home Mursia publishing house.

Some of the authors of the book, Matteo Bressan, Germano Dottori, Costantino Moretti and Paolo Casardi, took stock of the importance of maritime space and maritime space for national interests in a strategic context with global connotations.

The other authors present also intervened during the debate: Fabio Caffio and Daniele Scalea, addressing highly topical issues centered on the political-economic and geo-strategic aspects of Italian maritimeity.

For the occasion, a celebratory volume was created which, at the end of the conference, was delivered for the longest-lasting and most prestigious collaborations.
