The Grecale helicopter took off to go as quickly as possible to the shipwreck site and provide assistance.
In the rescue of the vessel some merchant ships also intervened, two patrol boats of the harbor master's office and one of the finance guard.
Assistance actions are now under way for 200 survivors and at the moment 14 cadavers, a not yet definitive number, have been recovered.
The medical staff of the Sirio and Grecale ships are providing medical assistance to the survivors.
