Watch out for the dolphin! Report sightings to the Hydrographic Institute of the Navy

(To Marina Militare)
04/08/16

As every summer, the Hydrographic Institute of the Navy reminds those who go to sea that it is possible to report the sighting of cetaceans by filling in the Sighting card of marine mammals. The collected data will be shared with scientific bodies for the protection of animals.

This important contribution to the monitoring of mammals in the Mediterranean can be made by entering the information in the card and sending it with a click. Each data is important, the species, the place of sighting or the presence of cetaceans in herd rather than an isolated specimen.
If you do not have all the information requested in the form it does not matter, it can also be filled in part.

The Hydrographic Institute of the Navy will combine this information with that collected during the field oceanographic research activities and will record it in a database shared with other national and international scientific bodies dealing with the protection of the marine environment.

In fact, studying marine mammals is functional for the protection of the environment: the dolphin is a brilliant friend for all and helps the human race, said Plutarch (XNUMXst century AD).

Your contribution counts!
