Obstacle Course Race: COMSUBIN also excels in sport

A notable sporting event characterized the weekend at the turn of April 2: after about two years of suspension due to the pandemic, the second edition of the "Original Gram - Military Edition" sports competition took place, that is one of the OCR races ( Obstacle Course Race) most exciting on the national scene, which combines running sections with the overcoming of natural and artificial obstacles; it is a complete sporting discipline, which originates from military obstacle courses and which tests psycho-physical abilities in an extreme way, requiring endurance, strength, speed, coordination and agility. An exceptional competition, therefore, which saw the participation of about 500 extraordinary athletes, also from abroad, who faced an endurance race dotted with multiple physical tests.

The challenge, organized by the Sports Association OriginalGram, with the patronage of the municipality of Portovenere and La Spezia, it developed on a path of over 15 km with a positive difference in height of about 900 meters with over 50 obstacles, and saw the collaboration of the Diving and Inshore Pools both in terms of participation and organizational aspects, making gymnastic-sports obstacle courses available at the base of Varignano and in the areas of Forte Muzzerone, GRS and Balipedio. The actual competition was also accompanied by a beautiful event dedicated to children, a Baby Gram designed for children aged 4 to 12 and who saw them involved in a fun obstacle course in the beautiful setting of Le Grazie.

For the first time COMSUBIN participated with a representation of athletes in anticipation of the birth of a Military Sports Society dedicated to the staff of the Command, obtaining an excellent first place in the team classification, thanks to the placements in the pro category and to the second and third place in the age category 40-44 years. A promising debut in the world of OCRs, witness to the spirit and athletic training that has always characterized the Varignano staff.
