Ship Vesuvio meets the Meyer children for his 40 years

Play with the children and give them a smile. To do so, also this year, the men and women of Nave Vesuvio who recently visited the Meyer pediatric hospital in Florence, a few days after the ship's fortieth "birthday".

Under the guidance of the sailors of Vesuvio the children were involved in many activities typical of life on board with the school of knots, the use of signaling flags, the stellar navigation sextant, the use of equipment for flight operations and the simulation of installation and take-off of helicopters.

The meeting was also an opportunity to share Nave's birthday with the children Vesuvio. On 4 June 1977, in fact, the ship was launched in the Muggiano Shipyard (La Spezia). Godmother, Mrs. Annamaria Zerbini, wife of the gold medal for military valor Evelino Marcolini. Since then 40 years have passed, during which the supply ship has operated in the service of the naval team and the country, taking part in numerous national and international missions and in multiple exercises. An important curriculum is that of Vesuvio, that only a few units of the Navy, since the second post-war period, can boast.

A relationship, the one between the Vesuvio and the children of the beautiful Meyer Institute, which is also good for adults because it helps to create awareness and knowledge of the hospital environment. The children experienced a different day, which helped to make their stay in the hospital lighter and which also gave very important moments of joy for those going through a period of recovery.

For each of them in memory of the day and as a testimony of the experience acquired the diplomas of "experienced sailors" and "young flight operator".
