The exercise serves to train the ship's teams in the most disparate fields, from anti-aircraft combat to shooting activities with onboard guns, to simple and complex fire defense exercises to boarding activities of suspicious merchant ships, all to recreate those operating environments in which military ships are employed.
After an intense period of training for the crew in November and a brief stop in the port of Toulon, Scirocco ship set sail for the Gulf of Lion, entering the naval device guided by the French amphibious vessel Thunder (Class Mistral) and its twin unit Dixmude, along with two class frigates Lafayette, some class corvettes D'Estienne D'Orves and other units.
