Nave Borsini participates in the international exercise Multi Cooperative Excercise 2016

From today to June 2, Italy, France, Portugal and Spain, members of the multinational maritime force EUROMARFOR, currently under the Italian command, will be involved in the international cooperation exercise called Multi Cooperative Exercise 2016, organized by the Italian and Tunisian navies.

The exercise will take place in front of the Tunisian coasts, with the aim of obtaining the maximum training return in the three days of the sea and of events of increasing difficulty, with themes and scenarios very close to the current ones of the central Mediterranean.

The Navy participates with the offshore patrol boat Borsini, headquarters of the EUROMARFOR task group commander, supported by a staff made up of officers and non-commissioned officers of the EUROMARFOR Marine.

On board Borsini there is a team of riflemen of the San Marco marine brigade and an AB-212 helicopter. The task group it is also composed of the Corvette Joao Roby (Portuguese) and minesweepers Capricorn (French) e Duero (Spanish).

The Tunisian Navy takes part in the activity with a patrol vessel, FFB Himilcon, and with minor structures to support the conduct of training activities.

The objective of the exercise is to promote collaboration with North African countries and, at the same time, increase the level of cooperation and mutual knowledge in the context of the operations of maritime security, to control and prohibit illegal maritime traffic and to safeguard human life at sea, also in consideration of the current unstable international situation, characterized by the growing threats to global security.
