At the end of a long period of preparation for deep diving Ship Antaeus yesterday concluded an important training moment in the area of submersible rescue.

On the bottom of the Gulf of Taranto, at a depth of about 50 meters, a member of the submarine's crew was brought to the surface Romeo Romei through the McCann rescue bell, the longest lasting underwater rescue system in history.

The activity follows the one recently conducted with the saturation immersion technique from Comsubin's divers on the wreck of the submarine Sebastiano Veniero.

Underwater operations conducted during this exercise, strongly hampered by adverse weather conditions, have confirmed the Navy's ability to provide relief to the left-wing submarines, a unique feature in the context of Mediterranean marinas.

Furthermore, the activity carried out with the Diving Operations Group, a veritable excellence in the underwater field of our country, also recognized abroad, is part of the multiple capabilities that the Navy places at the service of the community in the marine environment.
