The AGHENOR course is born

On board of Nave Vespucci to the south of the island of Favignana, the students of the first class of the Naval Academy have proclaimed themselves AGHENOR course.

It is the name of a Greek mythological figure, which is used as a noun in the meaning of courage and pride; it is linked to seafaring as the ancestor of the main peoples that dominated the Mediterranean four millennia ago.

The motto of the course "EX PLUVIA NATI VENTU DUCTI" summarizes the path taken to date: they swore loyalty to their homeland under a pouring rain in Livorno last December and on Nave Vespucci during the days of sailing returning from the Atlantic Ocean they were pushed up to the speed of 13,1 knots, the highest recorded in the current millennium.

On the flag stands the trident, an icon of AGHENOR's power, which is represented astride a steed as it emerges from the waves; the other symbols present recall some coats of arms of older Academy courses, to which the young students recognize great inspiration in the tradition that distinguishes our strength.

The commander and crew of Nave Vespucci, who have seen them engage with all their strength and grow professionally in the weeks spent on board, wish the best of luck to these talented young people, in the hope that they will be able to sail together and safely towards the challenges that await them!
