Navy: three naval units of the Mare Sicuro operation provide assistance to migrants in difficulty

Already this morning the Navy units of the air-naval device of the operation Safe Sea, are committed to the rescue of boats in difficulty in the Southern Mediterranean.

The Fremm Margottini is involved in the rescue of 2 rubber dinghies with about 250 migrants on board.

Finished by the frigate Grecale rescue on a dinghy with migrant 119.

The patrol Bettica has completed the recovery of 234 migrants distributed on 2 inflatable boats and has just started a third intervention.

Recovery operations and the search for further vessels are still ongoing.

The national operation Safe Sea the 12 March 2015 was launched following the worsening of the Libyan crisis which made it necessary to upgrade the Aeronaval Device of the MM deployed in the Central Mediterranean - in order to protect national interests in the area and ensure adequate levels of maritime safety.
