During the Mini Transat regatta, on the third day of the regatta, the sub-director Andrea Pendibene at the helm of the Pegaso 883 boat of the Italian Navy encountered particularly critical weather conditions that caused difficulties for many boats.

The navy boat has, using a technical term, "dismasted": the tree broke, making it impossible to continue the race without attempting an emergency repair.

The skipper of the Navy decided not to accept the offer of the race committee to abandon the boat and be recovered, but wanted to continue the race.

His ability allowed the boat to enter La Coruna last night preparing an emergency veil and managing to sail in extreme conditions, at a slow pace and in rough seas.

In port at La Coruna, the co-skipper of Pegaso 883, Giovanna Valsecchi, was waiting for a spare tree to arrive from the sailing section of La Spezia to try to restart Pegaso within the 72 hours allowed by the regatta regulations.
