Late on Wednesday, September 14th, an officer of the Navy was first placed in a state of detention by the military of the Guardia di Finanza of Taranto, subsequently transformed into an arrest by the magistrate. The officer was precautionary suspended from employment.
Investigative activities by investigators are still ongoing.
The Navy, reaffirming its full support to the action of the Judiciary, has internally increased the inspection and control activities aimed at preventing and combating the phenomenon of corruption to ensure maximum transparency and to safeguard the staff who daily performs service with spirit of sacrifice and sense of the State, fulfilling its duty even at the risk of life.
