Mare Nostrum: the rescue of the last hours

Tonight the frigate Aliseo rescued 480 migrants in two rescue operations south of Lampedusa. Among the 64 migrants were women and 66 the minors. One of the refugees, a diabetic, was transported to Catania this morning with the helicopter on board for the worsening of health conditions accompanied by a doctor from the Ministry of Health.

A few minutes ago, however, an intervention by the corvettes Sfinge and Urania which, with the assistance of the CP401 patrol boat, embarked 680 migrants who were traveling in a single boat without individual life jackets and with poor buoyancy.

220 migrants were boarded on the Sphinx ship, 350 on the Urania ship and 110 on the patrol boat.
