Mare Nostrum: 590 migrants recovered yesterday from the ships of the MM

The navy ships intervened yesterday in 3 rescue operations to boats coming from the coasts of North Africa, embarking numerous migrants also from merchant ships that supported operations in the Strait of Sicily.

The navy patrol sirio rescued a rubber dinghy with migrant 105, including 1 women and 1 minor, yesterday south of Lampedusa.

At the end of the recovery, Sirio sailed to the area where the motorship Stjerneborg (Singapore) rescued, again yesterday afternoon, several shipwrecked people from a sunken boat.

An EH 101 helicopter from the navy took off from the Lampedusa base to support search and rescue operations. The Sirio patrol boat, having completed the transfer of shipwrecked 55 rescued by the Stjerneborg motor ship, remained in the area to continue the search for any other survivors.

The frigate Aliseo during the night rescued 96 migrants from a wooden boat.

The amphibious ship San Giusto yesterday recovered 105 migrants from a rubber dinghy in precarious buoyancy conditions and subsequently embarked on 229 migrants already recovered from the merchant ship Bourbon Orca (Norway).

Also yesterday afternoon the CP302 patrol boat rescued 33 migrants from a boat carrying them to Lampedusa. Among them also a pregnant woman.
