The Amerigo Vespucci in Boston from 18 to 22 July

The school ship Amerigo Vespucci of the Navy arrived today in Boston, in the United States, for the seventh stop of the 2017 Education Campaign.

The Education Campaign aboard Nave Vespucci represents a key element in the training of Navy personnel and contributes to transferring those founding values ​​that distinguish men and women of the armed force: love for the sea, ethics, fidelity, discipline and honor.

Left from the Military Arsenal of La Spezia on April 19 for the 2017 Education Campaign, the "most beautiful ship in the world" has so far made a stop in Sines and Funchal in Portugal, after a 20-day Atlantic crossing it has reached Hamilton. , to the Bermuda Islands, and later visited Canada in the cities of Halifax, Montreal and Quebec City. 

The 79 students of the 24 course Volunteers in Fixed Five-Year Stand (VFP4) during the stop in Montreal they were alternated by 125 students of the 1st class of the Naval Academy of Livorno, including 11 foreigners. 

The students on board, immersed in a unique working context of its kind, learn the fundamentals of the seafaring art and of going to sea by putting into practice what has been studied up to now on books, they will train with the seaman equipment going up in the trees and calculate the sextant the position of the unit with respect to the stars. All of them have brought and will bring Italian excellence and the prestige of our Armed Forces abroad, through participation in cultural and promotional events, in collaboration with the national diplomatic representations of the host countries.

Over 22.000 visitors have taken advantage of Vespucci's presence at the various ports, in order to admire the unique style and the beauty of timeless charm.

Tuesday 18 July, at 16: local 00 (Italian 22.00 hours), the captain of the vessel, Angelo Patruno, will hold a press conference on board during which he will present the ship and the 2017 Education Campaign.

After Boston the Unit will arrive in New York, continuing to represent the country and the "made in Italy", in the United States, an area of ​​unusual gravitation for the Navy.

Ship Amerigo Vespucci will moor at the World Trade Center Pier and will open to the public on the following days and times:
