The Italian ambassador to Tanzania visits the Carabiniere ship

The 22 February 2016 ship Carabiniere, in an operational stop in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, received a visit on board the Italian ambassador to Dar Es Salaam, Luigi Scotto.

The ambassador, received by the commander of the Task Force 465, the rear-admiral Stefano E. Barbieri, and by the commander of the unit, frigate captain Francesco Saladino, addressed a greeting to the crew gathered on the point of flight, thanking for the contribution provided by the ship's crew Carabiniere - Flagship of Task Force 465 - in the fight against the phenomenon of piracy in the Somali basin and in the Gulf of Aden, the ambit of the EU's Atalanta mission.

The stop in Dar es Salaam allowed the ship's crew Carabiniere to carry out civil-military cooperation activities with the execution of maintenance interventions and donations of materials and food in favor of Tanzanian hospitals and schools and humanitarian organizations.

Collaboration and coordination with diplomatic missions abroad plays a decisive role in the knowledge of the local reality on the occasion of operational stops to carry out cooperation activities safely and effectively.
