The MM trains 24 students volunteer nurses of the Italian Red Cross

The Maritime Command of Sicily and the Regional Inspectorate for Voluntary Nurses CRI Sicily organized, from 8 to the 11 July at the Marisicilia headquarters (Augusta), the first information seminar in favor of 24, volunteer nurse students who attend the 2 ° year of training course.

The activity was articulated through theoretical-professional lessons in the classroom, an outing at sea on board of the Comandante Borsini ship and a visit to the Helicopter Station of the Navy of Catania (Maristaeli). This important opportunity for professional and personal growth for the Allieve is a unique experience that is part of the broader scenario of consolidated collaboration and sharing of intent between the Italian Navy and the Italian Red Cross, aims to bring the future Armed Forces to the Armed Force and to the reality of operational employment both on board the naval units at sea and on land at the Navy bases spread throughout the Sicilian territory.

In this case, while the medical staff of the residual infirmary of Augusta has assured the theoretical lessons concerning the elements of defense and protection as well as the extra-hospital health assistance with visits to the entire Healthcare facility, the Maristaeli helicopter personnel illustrated the rescue and evacuation of injured by helicopters, with visits to the hangars and flight groups.

Furthermore, on board the patrol vessel Comandante Borsini, the students had the opportunity to live the experience of a training exit at sea together with the possibility of seeing first-hand the use of on-board equipment in the event of medical aid or recovery castaways.

At the end of the seminar, the Maritime Commander of Sicily, Rear Admiral Nicola de Felice, intervened to express words of profound appreciation towards the Italian Red Cross that continues to consolidate the now traditional link with the Navy through the operational employment of the Voluntary Corps Nurses at edge of naval units and at ground installations. To the regional provincial, Sister Anna Di Marzo, she also addressed a fervent thanks for what has been done up to now with the nobility of mind, the impartiality and the undisputed commitment that characterize the Italian Red Cross, directing a sincere invitation for an ever more fruitful collaboration and sharing of intentions aimed at repeating the exceptional experience of approaching the Armed Forces for a constant and effective professional growth.

The admiral commander also underlined how - this continuous transfer of experiences towards the Red Cross students who will be the backbone of health interventions both in Italy and abroad representing Italy in the world, must be guarded and protected in full national interest for the benefit of citizens - in this period of particular international crisis and disastrous events that are seeing Italy in the foreground to ensure their positive and effective contribution.
