The Navy trains with NATO navies in the fire fighting

The Standing NATO Mine Counter Measure Group 2 - SNMCMG2, operating in the Mediterranean basin and led for the first time by Poland with commander Aleksander Urbanowicz, stopped at the port of La Spezia at the end of January.

On the occasion of the stop, the Warfare Training Center of Mine - MARICENDRAG, dependent on the Command of the Mine Countermeasures Forces - MARICODRAG, made available, at the request of the NATO Command, one of its teams to conduct training and evaluation activities on the Polish unit (flag ship) ORP Czernicki and on the Spanish minesweeper ESPS Duero.

Both units were involved in firefighting activities in navigation attitude. The minesweeper Duero it was affected by a large fire in the engine room, while in the Polish unit the fire was simulated in the waste collection, treatment and disposal room with the intervention of various attack teams.

For the Polish unit the training also included a contrast event a Improvised Explosive Device - IED in port: on this occasion the methodologies and technical procedures for the research and preparation of the unit to combat the IED threat were tested, under the supervision of MARICENDRAG's instructing staff.

An intense weekend for the coordination and planning of activities, preparatory to the actual training event that took place in the following days.

The activity carried out, which involved a valid training return for the personnel of the two units involved, obtained very positive feedback from the SNMCMG2 command staff.
