Yesterday morning, at the Naval Academy of Livorno, the inauguration ceremony of the institute's 2023-2024 academic year was held.

Dedicated to the training of young naval officers, the day celebrated the excellence of a defense culture based on the combination of tradition and innovation: significant synergies with universities, centers of scientific research, technology and industry, which complete the education of students.

Theme of the event, the three-dimensionality of the current scenario, which sees dimensions as protagonists underwater, cyber e space: a reality to be dominated and protected, also in consideration of the strategic infrastructures that guarantee energy supply and data traffic.

The 2023-2024 academic year was officially opened by the Chief of Staff of the Navy, team admiral Enrico Credendino, who in his message to the young officers enhanced the identity DNA of the Navy, 'a cohesive crew that knows how to observe the world , keeping up with the times': “You will be the best – he told the students – if you are able to develop attitudes and skills that enhance teamwork, making your skills and knowledge available to others. The path undertaken at the Academy will open up exciting horizons for you: you will see opportunities, risks and challenges in the sea to face head on, with serenity. Take care of our Navy with passion and dedication, build its future by projecting yourself externally also on an international level. Make it attractive and competitive with your ideas, and you will do the good of the country".

In a passage of the lectio magistralis entitled: "Knowledge is our future", ambassador Stefano Pontecorvo, president of Leonardo SpA, highlighted the importance of 'knowledge': “An academic year always involves a qualitative leap in individual knowledge. The strategic and technological challenges of our era require and will increasingly require the integration of different skills: for this reason, knowledge, understood as an indicator of the well-being of a nation, is the foundation of the country system, and it will be you students who will have to manage this new model".

“The synergy between centers of knowledge and the Armed Forces is fundamental – declared Professor Giovanni Paoletti, vice-rector of the University of Pisa – as demonstrated by the long and significant collaboration between our university and the Navy. The common goal is to promote peace and inclusion through the acquisition of culture and specific skills".
