The inauguration ceremony of the institute's 3-2022 academic year was held on Saturday 2023 March at the Livorno Naval Academy. A day that celebrated the educational excellence provided to young Navy officers in synergy with the universities of Pisa, Naples, Genoa and Trieste, in the wake of the conception of a culture of defense based on the roots of a solid tradition, and projected towards future of technological avant-garde.
The event was attended by the Chief of Defense Staff, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, the Chief of Navy Staff, Team Admiral Enrico Credendino and the Commander of the Naval Academy, Rear Admiral Lorenzano Di Renzo.
During the ceremony, the president of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità, prof. Silvio Brusaferro held a keynote in favor of those present, and the general director of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità, dr. Andrea Piccioli, illustrated the project carried out with the Navy, entitled Sea care.
During the event, in addition to the report of the theme Study Day “Italy: a nation stretched out over the sea. National maritime identity and new economic-strategic balances” held at the University of Pisa, the study awards for the two-year period 2019-2021 were awarded from the "Ugo Tiberio" Foundation to Dr. Daniela Galiano, from the "General Inspector of Naval Engineers Umberto Pugliese" Foundation to vessel lieutenant GM /GN Giuseppe Maggiore and finally of the "Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George" to Ensign Umberto Fontana.
