Vespucci and the students of the Naval Academy in Copenhagen

Copenhagen was the sixth stage of the Education Campaign of the students of the 1st class of the Naval Academy on board the ship Vespucci.

Leaving the Norwegian fjords, the ship sailed near Kronborg Castle, the famous setting for W. Shakespeare's Hamlet in the city of Elsinore, before reaching the capital of Denmark on 27 August. The scenery of the Danish Royal Palace in the background during the mooring maneuver is very impressive.

Upon arrival in Copenhagen the meeting with the Italian ambassador in Denmark, Stefano Queirolo Palmas who, after a moment of recollection with the crew to remember the victims of the earthquake in Central Italy, welcomed the Vespucci in Denmark.

With visits on board, the ship opened its doors to the population, arousing the curiosity of tourists and locals.

The city has offered various opportunities for recreation, training and cultural growth for students and crew, such as a visit to the Staten Museum for Kunst, the national art gallery which houses, in addition to a large collection of Danish works, also paintings of Italian artists such as Tiziano, Tintoretto, Leonardo and Masaccio and the visit to UN City, home to nine United Nations agencies, including UNICEF and Vespucci, has been ambassador of Unicef ​​Italy since 2007.

The students also visited the Copenhagen Naval Academy, meeting with future officials of the Danish Royal Navy.

Finally, during the stop the Vespucci has returned to the forefront of the information and awareness campaign launched by the association Marevivo, entitled "Sea Monster: a sea of ​​plastic". The Cassero of the unit, where an informative exhibition was arranged was the stage for conferences and debates centered on the need to find unitary policies aimed at reducing the release of plastic substances into the sea and in particular to eliminate the microplastics present in cosmetics and hygiene products. In addition to represented by Marevivo members of the main environmental associations of Denmark, as well as the Danish MEP, the Hon. Margrete Auken, committed to environmental protection issues.

The August 31 sailed from Copenhagen, the Vespucci heads to Antwerp, Belgium, where 5 will arrive in September.
