On September 11, the second permanent naval counter-measures group mine (Standing Born Mine Counter-Measures Group 2) composed of the flagship, the Aviere ship, the logistical support vessel Godetia (Belgium) and the minesweepers Evropi (Greece), Duero (Spain), Grimsby (United Kingdom), Homburg (Germany) and Erdek (Turkey), found themselves once again sailing the waters of the Mediterranean after a brief stop in Casablanca (Morocco).

The group, this year under Italian command, after the usual preliminary meetings during a lightning stop in Cartagena, has begun participation in the Spanish Minex 2014.

This important commitment will keep SNMCMG2 occupied until September 23.

In the exercise a conflict between two states (Cartagoland and Palosland) of the hypothetical island of Airebi is simulated; in the simulation of a declared conflict, the borders between the two countries have been closed and to combat immigration by sea, a protective mine has been carried out in the waters in front of the port of 'La Manga' belonging to 'Palosland'. The exercise requires naval training, in accordance with a United Nations resolution, to carry out mine counter-measures to allow for the safe evacuation by sea of the population blocked by the closure of the borders.
