The Naval Air Training Center of the Navy (MARICENTADD), in the context of the Italy-Malta 2024 bilateral agreements, conducted a "Training Module" from 5 to 23 February for the crew of the Maltese patrol vessel "P71", built at the Italian shipyard Vittoria and delivered in 2023 to the Maltese Armed Forces.

The training activity was started in the previous weeks with the crew attending practical firefighting and anti-failure courses, held at the Ship System service of the Middle. Subsequently, under the guidance of the MARICENTADD instructor staff, the crew underwent an intense training program in port and at sea with exercises of increasing difficulty, in synergy and cooperation with other naval and air assets of the Navy, also in training. In this sense, the training offer encompassed the field of maritime activities, the management of the vessel with maneuver in formation, the exercise of rescue activities at sea and maritime police and, finally, training in the sector of the so-called "control of damage", an essential ability for the safety of the crews of a naval unit at sea.

At the end of the training module, on Friday 23 February, the commander of the Maltese Armed Forces, Brigadier Clinton J O'Neill, wanted to personally visit the facilities of the Naval Air Training Center of the Navy, thanking for the opportunity that the P71 crew had to train to achieve full operational capability.
