The Navy Chief of Staff greets Rio 2016 athletes

Yesterday afternoon the Salone dei Marmi of Palazzo Marina wore the blue colors on the occasion of the greeting that the Chief of Staff of the Navy, the team admiral Valter Girardelli, addressed to the Navy athletes who took part in the Rio Olympics de Janeiro.

Nine 'Olympic sailors' who have been part of the national group in different disciplines, leading the bronze medal Giovanni Abagnale, third in the two without rowing, and their respective coaches and technical managers, who received congratulations from the entire Navy from the voice of its highest representative.

The Navy therefore returns from the Olympic competition strengthened not only in the results obtained - bronze in the rowing "two without" senior of Abagnale and the placements in the "women's team sync" and "duo", with a historic double placement at the 5th and 6th place of Elisa Bozzo, Beatrice Callegari, Linda Cerruti and Costanza Ferro - but "with a renewed winning mentality - as the chief of staff - the result of commitment and great sacrifices that represent a bet for the future of Italian sport ".

The Rio 2016 group was made up of nine Olympic athletes: Giovanni Abagnale and Luca Parlato (rowing), Antonio Barillà (skeet shooting - double trap), Elisa Bozzo, Beatrice Callegari, Linda Cerruti and Costanza Ferro (synchronized swimming), Michele Benedetti (diving - 3 mt springboard) and Stefanie Horn (slalom canoe - k1), and their coaches: Giovanni Lepore (rowing), Domenico Antonio Cannone (Canadian canoe) and Matteo Appodia (river canoe).
