14/09/17

The Navy destroyer Luigi Durand de la Penne, arrived today in Aksaz where he will remain until the 17 September, the last foreign stop foreseen by the itinerary of the 2 ^ Naval Academy Class Education Campaign.

Departing from Taranto on 11 August, the unit has already touched the ports of Piraeus, Odessa and Varna, and after the departure from Aksaz it will return to national waters at the end of the month for an appointment with the other Navy ships engaged in 2017 education campaigns in Portoferraio and Livorno.

On board the 88 unit there are official students of the 2ª class who continue the path of professional growth undertaken, carrying out a training program that covered the activities of the Navy almost at 360 °, from the conduct of navigation to maritime safety operations, from the activity operational (Safe Sea), to naval diplomacy.

Through this period of professional training, the students, supported by the crew, learned operational and technical notions completing what they had studied at the Academy and in the education campaign last year, carried out as usual on the training ship Amerigo Vespucci.

Participation in cultural and promotional events, in collaboration with the national diplomatic representations of the host countries, makes the education campaign one of the best ambassadors of national excellence abroad.

For the students, this is a significant moment with which they have the opportunity to learn about and deal with different cultures and customs in a vision of international, European and global maritime, which outlines this beginning of the millennium as a "blue century". The "blue growth" is in fact considered a key factor on which to aim for sustainable development of our country in a context where maritime is a fundamental resource for commercial growth, employment and technology.

Ship De La Penne during the stop it will be open to visits on board for the benefit of the population.
