The team of the operating group divers of Comsubin resurfaces on the surface with their wetsuits and tanks, after the check, essential in the context of safety, of the ship's hull Martinengo: in fact, verifying the integrity of the hull and carrying out checks on the surrounding docks constitute fundamental operations that fall within the multiple tasks of the GOS operators embarked for the operation Atalanta.
Among them is a young Navy diver in one of the first experiences in operational activities outside the area, which began last January 3rd, right on board the frigate Martinengo as an operator of the EOD/SUB Team.
Becoming a diver means being specialized in conducting complex underwater operations such as the clearance of mines and unexploded ordnance found at sea, technical interventions on the hull, rescue and assistance to the crews of damaged submarines.
During embarkation, great attention is also paid to maintaining a high level of training and, in this perspective, the conduct of training activities in collaboration with the other specialized components on board such as the helicopter section and the marine brigade Saint Mark - as in the half-barbet descent from the SH-90 helicopter, in hot exercises with portable weapons and explosives - represent a further moment of professional growth and integration into the on-board crew.
