"Today we would not know how to imagine better men and women for our Navy". Minister of Defense, Senator Roberta Pinotti, addresses those present at Navy Day. The sailors: they are the protagonists of the Day, they who daily with rigor, professionalism and a sense of sacrifice work for the good of the country and the community. The "We are the Navy", The motto that, according to the minister, interprets how much the Italians are reflected in the Navy. "We feel Italian because we know what the Navy has done, does daily and will do again in the future - added -. It is a long story, written by thousands of our countrymen with the uniform, in peace as in war, but always at the service of our national community and our institutions".

A day celebrated in the port of Civitavecchia, which was also attended by the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella. A deeply felt date that evokes the historic "Battle of Premuda", a daring sea action conducted by the MAS during the 1 World War. An evocative setting was the one that welcomed the participants: the traditional celebrations were joined by the delivery of the Combat Flags to the crews of the European Multi Mission Frigates (FREMM) Alpine e Carabiniere and the presence of several naval units, including Garibaldi, Pound, Palinuro, Dactyl, Italy and the submarine Romei. "A celebration today's one - emphasized the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Admiral Valter Girardelli - among the people, outside the usual places and the bases of the Navy, meaning that the Navy is at the service of the community and from this it draws strength, inspiration, reason to exist and of which it is an integral part. The Navy is a human reality of the highest level, a diligent Armed Forces, guardian of the country's maritime dominion, entirely dedicated to the common good and the needs of the people".

"The men and women of the Navy - continued Admiral Girardelli - they are not heroes, but citizens who carry out the primary mission of guaranteeing safety from the sea and the sea, in public, humanitarian and emergency, relief and medical-health assistance activities for the less fortunate, in synergy with important public and private associations , in protecting the environment and supporting research, I am always at the service of the country and the community".

Men and women, many of whom are engaged in national and international missions, to whom the Chief of the General Staff of Defense, General Claudio Graziano, also addressed with gratitude and gratitude: "Almost a century after the memorable enterprise of Luigi Rizzo, our thoughts go to all those who have written on the sea the most beautiful pages in the history of our Navy, not hesitating when necessary to give their lives for the country and for the community". They, the faces of "We are the Navy", The campaign that in the last month we have been able to get to know and that, as stated by the captain of the vessel Luca Anconelli, Manager of the Image and Promotion Office of the Navy:"everyone likes it, sailors and not. A simple, spontaneous campaign, easy to identify, that goes straight to the heart and that increases the pride of belonging to the Armed Forces".

Staff and means. A marriage between tradition and innovation is what characterizes the Marina today, more and more projected towards a future that sees in the sea its fundamental reference point for the economic, technological and social development of the Country. Development but also a response to the current geopolitical situation, as Graziano himself said: "The multidimensionality, the vagueness, the transnationality of the phenomena we are facing make a global response necessary by all countries and in particular by Italy. To face up to such a complex level of commitment in the future, the Defense is equipping itself with a consolidated and flexible organizational structure, capable of ensuring an agile and well-sized military instrument, integrated and integrable in inter-force, multinational and inter-agency terms".
