Italy, France, Portugal and Spain - the four nations belonging to the multinational maritime force "EUROMARFOR", currently under the Italian command - from 31 May to 2 June were engaged in the international cooperation exercise Multi Cooperative Exercise 2016, organized by the Italian Navy, together with the Tunisian one.

The exercise took place in front of the Tunisian coasts, to test and improve the skills of the participants on the most typical missions that take place in the Mediterranean such as surveillance, control of merchant traffic, the fight against illegal immigration and search and rescue ( SAR).

The Navy took part in the Multi Cooperative Exercise 2016 with the patrolman Commander Borsini, together with a team of riflemen from the Marina San Marco Brigade. Borsini also took on the role of command headquarters ship of the naval group (task group) of EUROMARFOR, embarking a staff of officers and non-commissioned officers of the participating navies.

Together with Borsini also the Portuguese corvette Joao Roby and hunters Capricorn (France) e Duero (Spain) while the Tunisian Navy participated in the exercise with the class patrol vessel Albatros "Himilicon" and with lesser means of support.

This type of exercises are very important because they help to consolidate international relations with the North African navies, the synergy and interoperability between the forces and, overall, increase the maritime security of the Mediterranean to respond to the renewed strategic challenges beyond the horizons that affect the contemporary Mediterranean scenario.
