Nave's commitment continues Carlo Bergamini within the European mission Atalanta, aimed at combating piracy in the Indian Ocean.

On 19 and 20 February the crew of the Italian Navy unit was the protagonist of two different activities in the city of Djibouti.

The first, related to the wider concept of Civil Military Cooperation - CIMIC, saw the Navy personnel, together with the personnel of the Italian Military Support Base in Djibouti, donating drugs and allocating medical care to the children hosted by Caritas in Djibouti. A concrete gesture of help brought to difficult territories such as that of the Horn of Africa, which helps to improve relations and the image of Italy and strengthens the relationship of collaboration with local institutions.

The activity carried out the next day, on the other hand, was more oriented towards the “Local Maritime Capacity Building”, when the Navy personnel had the opportunity to train 10 soldiers belonging to the Coast Guard of Djibouti. During the module, the operation of some on-board instruments, ancillary to navigation, was illustrated, including the on-board radars, the communication and supervision systems of meteorological conditions and the electronic cartography system used on board for the conduct of navigation.

Despite the short time available, the activity represented an opportunity for professional growth for the Armed Force of a country that is located in a strategic geographical position in contrasting the phenomenon of piracy.
