The ceremony for the awarding of the raider patents to the students of the 74th ordinary course took place today in the historic fortress of Varignano: thirteen young people passed the intense selection process, reaching the highly coveted goal sealed by the delivery of the beret green.
“Within the prestigious structure of Varignano you can immediately feel that spirit of discipline, passion and respect that has always animated the Incursori di Marina and which we find, today, unchanged in the commitment, tenacity and determination of these young people” – these are the words of the undersecretary of Defense who expressed how it is necessary to continue to prepare a functional military instrument calibrated to the ambitions of our country, modernizing it and adapting it to new needs: “An instrument that however cannot ignore the value of its human component; it is not the techniques or technologies that are "special", but the men and women who know how to make intelligent use of them in the service of the country" - concluded the Honorable Perego.
Admiral Credendino, addressing the newly patented candidates, declared: "Today we reap the highly prized fruits of the challenging process you have supported, at the end of a very severe and selective process. 13 of you obtained the patent, only 1% of the over 1300 candidates. Your capabilities will be enabling for the Navy, in a complex, changing and unstable, at times unpredictable, scenario, where we are called to support Defense action by expressing the best of our potential, starting from niches of excellence like you are".
Rear Admiral Massimiliano Rossi, commander of Comsubin, instead addressed "heartfelt thanks to the instructors of the Incursori School and the staff of the Group, who allowed us to complete a process and training course of the highest level and with great commitment".
The new 'Arditi Incursori' will have to guarantee multiple tasks in their missions at home and in risky operational theaters abroad, always in defense of national strategic interests; in the silence of their identities, the thirteen soldiers received the coveted patent, an exclusive symbol of belonging to this elite corps, and which comes after a very tough training period where they learned to act in the environments and in the three dimensions where they will be called to operate, under the surface of the sea, in the sky and on the ground.
