The Palinuro student campaign ended

The training ship training campaign ended on 13 September in Taranto Palinuro with 33 students of the 18th Marshal Normal Course Prometheus.

Accompanying the students on this journey, an important training basis for their future as non-commissioned officers, is the experience of a crew always available to transmit the knowledge gained over the years.

"The days went by at a fast pace. Life on board is a mechanism that cannot afford interruptions: guard shifts follow one another incessantly between the various activities and exercises, all of which are functional for safe navigation. Every moment becomes essential to become familiar with the maritime art, with concepts of nautical and meteorology."These are the words of one of the students.

Despite the limited recovery times, the distance from home and the coexistence in confined spaces, teamwork and strong motivation have contributed to generating a healthy body spirit, essential to overcome the difficulties of life on board.

For the first time in 82 years of history, during this Student Campaign the ship sailed the waters of the Black Sea to touch the ports of Varna (Bulgaria), Odessa (Ukraine) and Constanta (Romania), important regional economic centers and headquarters, with their academies and universities, for the training of the Military Navies ester.

The passage of the Turkish straits of the Dardanelles and the Bosphorus was therefore significant, followed by the crossing of the Aegean Sea and its islands.

Waiting for the students on their return to Taranto, the commander of Mariscuola Taranto, division admiral Salvatore Coppola, who, with his intervention on board, declared the 2016 Education Campaign.

A well-known aphorism states: "The only rule of the trip is: do not return as you left. Come back different". It is with this new spirit that the course Prometheus he is ready to face the second year of the course at Mariscuola, with the awareness of the numerous commitments, but also of the personal satisfactions and gratifications that await the students.
