At the end of 2016 the Diving and Inshore Command of the Navy, Comsubin, has equipped itself with a class A hydro ambulance with the capacity to carry out rescue interventions at sea, to its personnel, as part of the institute's training and operational activities.

The boat was specifically designed for the needs of the health service of the Underwater and Incursori Grouping to reach the operations area quickly - at a maximum speed of 50 knots - and provide help thanks to the life-saving equipment it is equipped with: defibrillator, automatic lung ventilator, aspirator and drug infuser.

Made by an Italian company, based on the specific needs of doctors and nurses specialized in underwater and hyperbaric medicine who support the activities of Comsubin, the 10-meter-long hydro ambulance equipped with 3 engines of 300 horsepower, can operate with a state of the sea up to 4 (very rough) and a wave height of up to 2,3 meters.

This structure, so precious for the safety of military operations of divers and raiders, can be made available to the community on the basis of dedicated agreements, on the occasion of particular events in which a high-level medical support at sea is required, which allows the stabilization of vital parameters and the transport of any injured person to the nearest hospital.
