During the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the Great War, the best way to remember a sailor is to name a ship after him.

On 19 December the Navy remembered the hero Luigi Rizzo by giving his name to a new unit, one European Multi-Mission Frigate (FR.EMM) launched in the Riva Trigoso shipyards in Genoa, which had Maria Guglielmina, daughter of Luigi Rizzo as godmother.

The ceremony was attended, among others, by Giovanni Toti, president of the Liguria region, team admiral Giuseppe De Giorgi, chief of staff of the Navy and the managing director of Fincantieri Giuseppe Bono.

The new frigate Rizzo will be added to the Naval Team only in several months, when it will be definitively delivered to the Navy which for just four days, last December 15, at the Arsenal of La Spezia greeted another frigate, the Maestrale, with the ceremony of theLast Ammaina Flag.
